Purpose

Set Retarder T 1 by MTC Concrete is a highly effective modifying admixture designed to extend the setting time of concrete mixes and provide controlled cement hydration without negatively affecting the final strength of the concrete.

T 1 admixture by MTC Concrete is used for:

  • the production of concrete mixes during the summer season when extended workability retention is required;

  • long-distance transportation of concrete mixes and delayed commencement of setting;

  • the production of ready-mix concrete, architectural concrete, pumpable concrete and reinforced concrete structures;

  • the production of concrete for airfield and road construction projects;

  • the manufacture of high-strength concrete for above-ground, underground and other engineering structures.

The admixture may be used either as a standalone modifier or in combination with plasticising admixtures.

Properties

The mechanism of action is based on the controlled retardation of cement hydration processes, increasing the workable life of the concrete mix while maintaining stable rheological properties over an extended period.

The use of T 1 admixture provides the following benefits:

  • extends the setting time of concrete mixes;

  • maintains workability during transportation over long distances;

  • helps achieve proper compaction and a smooth, even concrete surface free from pores and voids;

  • facilitates concreting operations in hot weather conditions;

  • ensures technological stability of the concrete mix during prolonged placing operations;

  • provides controlled cement hydration throughout the setting process;

  • designed for use at temperatures from +10 °C to +35 °C.

Dosage

Recommended dosage: 0.1 - 0.3% of cement weight.

The optimum dosage depends on the required concrete properties and should be determined through site trials.

Application

For optimum performance, T 1 should be added together with the mixing water required for concrete production. Ensure thorough mixing to achieve uniform distribution throughout the mix. Important! Do not add directly to dry components!

State: liquid.

pH value: 7.0 - 8.0.

Density (at 20 °C): 1.16 ± 0.01 g/ml.

Non-volatile content: 30 ± 2%.

Water-soluble chloride content: ≤ 0.10%.

Alkali content (as Na₂O): ≤ 27%.
